Section 7 - "Loon Lake" Trolley Path

The "Loon Lake" trolley path was added to the Action Plan in 2001. The path is the old streetcar right-of-way (ROW) that follows the hill side above East Calhoun Parkway between West 36th and 34th Streets. In order for residents to clean the path of debris and improve the area with the addition of wood chips along, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) required a land survey. This land survey provided the delineation between MPRB property (the old Streetcar ROW) and adjacent private property. MPRB preformed the survey in late 2001.

ECCO NRP announced the proposed creation a new Strategy to the Phase One Action Plan. The proposal moves funding from the Hennepin Avenue Street lighting and the Survey of Land strategy mentioned on this page to make improvements to the path. These improvements include rehabilitation to these stairs that once served trolley patrons at the Calhoun stop.
